Resource Center
ASH is preparing to open a resource center alongside the respite home in the spring of next year. The objectives of the resource center are:
- To engage local community members with disabilities in fun, educational, and social activities
- To offer a place for primary caregivers to go for information, social events, and classes
- To increase community involvement and awareness of developmental disabilities.
Additionally, ASH is excited to note that the opening of the resource center will create at least three new jobs in Ashland.
Who it will serve
In keeping with ASH’s mission, the resource center will serve people with disabilities.
How it will serve
The resource center will serve as a meeting place for people with disabilities. The resource center will host educational classes for people with disabilities, their primary care providers, and the community. ASH would also like to provide small group day trips that include:
- Hiking
- Fishing
- Boating
- A day at the movies
- Picnics at the lake or park
- … other destinations/activities by request
ASH recognizes our unique ability as a small local nonprofit to respond more quickly to community and client input and suggestions than larger organizations. We value community involvement and will ask for your help and suggestions in our program development this fall when we host a community meeting. If you have any questions or suggestions to make before then, please contact us and ask for Sue, Judy, or Amanda.
